Passion and Pursuit

As we approach the festive season and we begin to celebrate the birth of Christ let us all remember those who are in need. Those in need who may not necessarily show you that they are in need and those who are openly in need.  I am inspired to write this post because I just now felt the need to check on a fellow blogger who I follow, and was shocked to learn that she had been through a divorce.  Her family seemed so perfect and they looked so happy.  I was shocked and still feel the hurt in my stomach for her.  I admire what she had. I immediately went into prayer for her because I know what it is to lose a loved one and not have them around for the holidays. I prayed for strength, for the courage to face the stares of people, the judgment of people, sanity and for peace of mind. The holidays are extremely difficult when you are alone although I am sure she will be with friends and family, but to not have her husband there can be so hard. So I am away from most of my family most of the time, as a result I miss them.  Being away from your family most of the time can be emotionally taxing and the enemy sometimes just reminds you of every negative thing.  But he tried it!  Whenever the enemy tries to bombard me with depression , I sing, sing loud and I sing hard. I do not just sing any song though, I sing songs that are filled with the word of God, inspirational songs. "And then you woke up"  Have you ever had this sarcastic remark spoken to you, right after you told a friend or a loved one of some crazy warped idea that you have, which they couldn't fathom or get. To bring you sharply to reality they usually say, " And then you woke up".  Recently something happened to me that caused me to do just that, not physically but spiritually.  It was something I had promised myself I would never do but I did it quite innocently forgetting my past statement. When my father died it was sudden I saw him on the Thursday and he was gone on the Saturday. It was a shock. I didn't want to accept it. There was a funeral , there were pictures taken it was recorded on video , and I vowed never to watch any of those.  Recently though on holiday or vacationing overseas with my family I found myself doing just that quite by accident. Seeing my dad's dead body did not affect me at first, then I saw it again and again, and then I saw him...

Recently I contemplated changing the name of this blog, but I felt a strong conviction that it needs to remain as is. Why because too many of us believe that we should pursue happiness or excellence or a man or a woman, but not many people are desiring to go after God.  I am not perfect I am absolutely flawed but the reality is I am in pursuit of holiness, my ultimate desire is to be more like God, to walk as Jesus did.  Nothing else matters really as the outward beauty we have will fade away, the land, the car the things we hold dear will not last.  What will last is your spirit, the real you, that lives in the shell we call a body.  It never dies.  Your spirit is the eternal part of you.  So why not pursue God ? You have everything to gain, Roman 6: 23 says "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life"  You get to live forever.  Well... where you do so is what is important.  Today you can choose . We all have goals. Our goals become prayers, things we ask God to develop in us so we can achieve those goals.  I have learned the hard way to tread carefully, because His methods in helping you develop those in ward qualities are not always easy. So you want to learn to be patient, and so you pray God help me, I am so impatient at times, I promise that I will be more patient next time around but you need to help me with that. Well... you're about to wait for somethings, he is going to test you.  Make sure you have spiritual understanding and good discerning because some tests are about to hit you right where it hurts and you will need to be ready.   I believe the key is to recognizing it when it comes and being prepared for it, just like the natural.   In the natural we study for an exam and familiarize ourselves with the concepts so that when we sit in the exam room, we first recognize the questions presented and we are able to respond...

To be fulfilled, one must find their purpose.  I believe your true purpose cannot be found without God. God places a desire in you to do something, to solve a problem in this world and as long as you have tapped into that you will know and find your purpose. Finding your purpose does not mean you won't be challenged beyond reason sometimes. The challenges come to make us grow.  Each challenge is a test and once you have passed that test you will grow and move to another level in your purpose.  I have found that sometimes we are often challenged with the same situations because we have not passed the test or learnt the lesson that we are supposed to learn. Recently I was challenged beyond reason. It just made no sense, but it was something which had happened before.  I saw myself reacting the same way and making the same choices.  It was Deja Vu. I wanted to step out of myself and press pause but I couldn't because my reactions had become habits. I...

Today I felt the writer in me come forward, she was asking to be heard, and she was flowing. The thoughts were coming and I was, as they say feeling myself again. I  remember writing short stories as a 14 year old and after writing them I would give them to my friends to read.  At the time all I consumed or read I should say were romance novels, and what goes in is what comes out.  I began to write my own romance stories. Yes girls!!! Then I gave my heart to the Lord, and one day I made the mistake of going to church with one of my romance novels... lol... don't know what I was thinking. I can remember it now, it was predominantly pink and the hero was muscular with long flowing blond hair and of course, he had no shirt on. So, the pastors wife came up to me looked at the book and shook her head.
