Have You Heard From God?

1 Samuel 30 :1-8 David and his men reached Ziklag on the third day. Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it, and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way. When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep. David’s two wives had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the Ephod.” Abiathar brought it to him, and David inquired of the LORD, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursu...

Sometimes God Shouts

Recently, I read a  short story called “When God Whispers”, which moved me to the point of tears. It was beautifully written and the message was not a whisper to me, it was more like a shout.  Events and ongoing occurrences in my life have led me to wonder whether God is shouting at me but I am not listening.  I know He is shouting but am I getting the right message or is it distorted because of all the distractions. As I write , it gets clearer. Ah I understand… he is removing those distractions so I can hear him clearer. Being keen and discerning is not easy but it is essential to hearing God’s voice clearly. Initially it may not even look or sound like God  and we may become tempted to just ignore his bidding. This is how I felt for sure, I did not want to hear… that message. God in his omnipotence, knows what is best for us, it may not feel good, we may not understand what he is doing, but he knows the heart of us all and will do what is necessary to keep us from...

Sugar Does not Make Everything Better

Image
After a very challenging day , I decided to make us a healthy smoothie, I put in yogurt, frozen fruits and coconut milk and some whole milk... not sure why I put in the milk but I did, after blending I gave some to my seven year old son Seth,  after tasting he made a face and handed the glass to me. I let out a hearty laugh knowing he did not like smoothies anyway so I proceeded to taste it myself, it tasted terrible.  The coconut milk was starting to go bad, so I threw that bit away and made a whole new batch with frozen fruits , yogurt ,milk, and ... sugar. Blended it quickly and tried to get Seth to drink some .. trying my best I said, this time I put in some sugar, his response was " Sugar doesn't make everything better" I smiled inside. I thought it was something he had heard somewhere so I asked " Did your teacher say that? He said no he had just got it from his mind.  He was so right whilst the sugar may have enhanced the taste of the smoothie it...

Happiness is a Choice

Choose to be happy, despite what you face At the end of the day, God will recompense He said vengeance is mine, It may take a while, but evil doers will pay Their fate is sealed They will reap what they sow It may take a while but every dog has his day Choose to smile , when they want you to frown Live life to the fullest While they lurk in the background Haters will hate That’s what they do best You cannot succumb To their scheming mess Laugh long, laugh hard It is not right but it is okay Remember Haman He who digs a pit  Shall himself fall in it Trust and obey That’s all you need to do Make sure your heart is right And keep praying through Joy comes in the morning This too shall pass Today is a new day Do not focus on the past There’s still a glimmer of hope ahead Let it reflect in your smile Make your days count And worth the while Life is too precious , to waste on stress Remain positive and you will pass the test Make memories and moments last Forever in your heart Hold on to...
