Passion and Pursuit

Recently I contemplated changing the name of this blog, but I felt a strong conviction that it needs to remain as is. Why because too many of us believe that we should pursue happiness or excellence or a man or a woman, but not many people are desiring to go after God.  I am not perfect I am absolutely flawed but the reality is I am in pursuit of holiness, my ultimate desire is to be more like God, to walk as Jesus did.  Nothing else matters really as the outward beauty we have will fade away, the land, the car the things we hold dear will not last.  What will last is your spirit, the real you, that lives in the shell we call a body.  It never dies.  Your spirit is the eternal part of you.  So why not pursue God ? We all have goals. Our goals become prayers, things we ask God to develop in us so we can achieve those goals.  I have learned the hard way to tread carefully, because His methods in helping you develop those in ward qualities are not always easy. So you want to learn to be patient, and so you pray God help me, I am so impatient at times, I promise that I will be more patient next time around but you need to help me with that. Well... you're about to wait for somethings, he is going to test you.  Make sure you have spiritual understanding and good discerning because some tests are about to hit you right where it hurts and you will need to be ready.   I believe the key is to recognizing it when it comes and being prepared for it, just like the natural.   In the natural we study for an exam and familiarize ourselves with the concepts so that when we sit in the exam room, we first recognize the questions presented and we are able to respond...

To be fulfilled, one must find their purpose.  I believe your true purpose cannot be found without God. God places a desire in you to do something, to solve a problem in this world and as long as you have tapped into that you will know and find your purpose. Finding your purpose does not mean you won't be challenged beyond reason sometimes. The challenges come to make us grow.  Each challenge is a test and once you have passed that test you will grow and move to another level in your purpose.  I have found that sometimes we are often challenged with the same situations because we have not passed the test or learnt the lesson that we are supposed to learn. Recently I was challenged beyond reason. It just made no sense, but it was something which had happened before.  I saw myself reacting the same way and making the same choices.  It was Deja Vu. I wanted to step out of myself and press pause but I couldn't because my reactions had become habits. I...

Today I felt the writer in me come forward, she was asking to be heard, and she was flowing. The thoughts were coming and I was, as they say feeling myself again. I  remember writing short stories as a 14 year old and after writing them I would give them to my friends to read.  At the time all I consumed or read I should say were romance novels, and what goes in is what comes out.  I began to write my own romance stories. Yes girls!!! Then I gave my heart to the Lord, and one day I made the mistake of going to church with one of my romance novels... lol... don't know what I was thinking. I can remember it now, it was predominantly pink and the hero was muscular with long flowing blond hair and of course, he had no shirt on. So, the pastors wife came up to me looked at the book and shook her head. There are so many schools of thought in today's world.  So many philosophies, trends and opinions of men I have come to realize that life is to be lived in the present. Enjoy your life right now, in whatever stage or chapter that you're in now.  Enjoy your 20, 30, 36 or 66 ! Enjoy you toddler who speaks continuously unless he or she is on a tablet. Dance till you're giddy to a positive and uplifting song, Enjoy your enemies, yes, they push you to be better Enjoy the gift of loneliness, because you will not always be lonely Enjoy the beauty that is around you, and believe me there is beauty in everything, as long as you can see it. Enjoy your singleness... yes girl, yes guy... because when and if you marry, you may wish your were single again... let me tell you... Don't be so hasty to the next stage in life, enjoy the gift of the present because there will only be one day like today.
